Purpouse: My first production involved a cause I strongly care about, Sexual Assault Prevention. At the age of 20, I developed the first Sexual Assault Prevention Symposium in 2014 to educate IU students about available resources for preventing, coping with, and reporting sexual assault. Despite initial funding challenges, the event thrived through collaborations with organizations like Culture of Care, OVPDEMA, IUSA, and Greek organizations.
Responsibilities: The symposium involved a full day of workshops hosted by professors, and community organizations, diverse panel discussions, and informative booths from key organizations such as Culture of Care, RAISE, and Indiana University Police Department. I increased outreach through university listservs, flyers, and social media platforms to broaden event promotion. I managed a detailed planning timeline, venue reservation, and consistent communication with collaborators to streamline the day of logistics. I led registration, check-in, print materials, social media campaigns, workshop submissions, sponsors, and grant submissions.
Outcome: The event successfully engaged over 100 participants in a day filled with educational workshops, panel discussions, and interactive booths. Attendees gain valuable insights into sexual assault prevention, coping strategies, and available resources on campus. Through diverse representation and collaboration, the symposium fosters a community-wide conversation, promoting awareness, understanding, and proactive measures against sexual assault on the IU campus. The first year we held 3 workshops and 6 booths, the second year we held 6 workshops and 10 booths.
During my time I developed a comprehensive event guide outlining, email templates, timelines, community contacts, financial supports, and mission to prepare new members of the sorority for planning initiatives.
